Research and Development Cell
Objectives
The Research & Development (R & D) cell at Alard University Pune aim to create a dynamic and supportive platform that stimulates and guides for research excellence; promotes inventions, innovations, and discoveries; and encourage technology-driven entrepreneurship that can contribute to National and Social growth.
The objectives are:
- Cultivating and Promoting Research Excellence: Striving for excellence in research and cultivating it by providing resources, knowledge, infrastructure, and collaborative support to researchers, professors and students of the university, enabling them to pursue cutting-edge R & D work.
- Promoting Interdisciplinary / Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers, startups, and industry partners to tackle complex challenges and global issues.
- Creating Collaborative Opportunities: Fostering collaboration between researchers/professors and industry for forward innovation and wealth creation.
- Facilitating Technology Transfer: Facilitating the transfer of technology and know-how from R & D outcomes to industries and startups for commercialization and thereby social benefit.
- Fostering Innovation, invention and discovery culture: Encouraging a culture of innovation, invention, and discovery within the organization.
- Supporting Startup Ecosystem: Nourishing the growth and development of startups by guiding and providing access to research expertise, mentors, venture capitalist, seed funding, and available facilities
- Enhancing Industry Partnerships: Strengthening partnerships with Indian and Multinational industries to identify research needs, explore collaborative projects/product development, and facilitate technology transfer and commercialization.
- Promoting Intellectual Property Rights and Management: Developing strategies for intellectual property management, including patenting, copyrighting, licensing, and protection of research outcomes and startup innovations.
- Encouraging Entrepreneurship and traditional family businesses: Encouraging new age entrepreneurship as well as taking forward the traditional family businesses by students and faculty members of our university by providing incubation support, entrepreneurship training, and networking opportunities.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitoring the progress and impact of R & D activities at AUP, evaluating outcomes against predefined metrics, and taking necessary actions to achieve objectives.
- Award and honors to the best researchers of AUP: To identify and recommend the names of the faculty members and students for best researcher/professor/teacher award to AUP every year.
Area of activities of R & D Cell
R & D cell at Alard University Pune is responsible for the following activities:
- To stimulate/encourage R & D in various schools of the university
- To guide and help faculty members of the university in their R & D work, drafting and publishing research papers / sponsored project proposals
- To educate faculty members of the university for IPR
- To guide and help faculty members of the university in drafting and filing of patents and copyrights
- To identify thematic areas / important research topics as per the need of the society and nation
- To start and establish thematic research centers / laboratories in the university
- To guide and help in arranging thematic conferences at various schools of the university
- To arrange and conduct faculty development programs (FDPs) for educating faculty members of the university in current science and technologies
- To collaborate with National and International institutes / universities for R & D cooperation
- To conduct and overall management of the Ph. D. course in various subjects at the university
- To represent Alard University Pune for its in-house R & D work at National and International level
Members of the R & D Cell
R and D cell is headed and directed by Prof. Dr. Prakash R. Somani who is a well-known Scientist and Professor in the area of Applied Physics and Nanotechnology. He is enlisted among Top 2 % Scientist in the World in the area of Applied Physics as per Stanford University USA and Elsevier evaluation from 2020 to 2025.

All the R & D Coordinators from different schools of the university directly report to and work under the guidance of the Director of the R & D Cell. Mr. Abhijit help in coordinating and conducting the day-to-day activities of the cell. Mr. Abhijit Tapkiare is also perusing Ph. D. in education sector.
