Lab Facilities

Four well equipped laboratories with latest configuration desktop computers and Internet.

Electrical Machine Lab

Electrical Machines Lab provides the essential facilities to the students to augment their concepts about the fundamentals of transformers and rotating machines. The lab is equipped with DC series/shunt motor, compound motor, universal motor, single-phase induction motor, single-phase transformer, three-phase induction motor, three-phase synchronous motor and three-phase transformer. The lab is equipped with various tests and monitoring equipment also.

High Voltage Engineering Lab

In the field of electrical engineering, high voltages are required for several applications. Electron microscopes and X-rays units require high d.c. voltages of the order of 100 KV or more. High A.C. voltages of one million volts or more are required for testing power apparatus rated for extra high transmission voltages. High impulse voltages are required for testing purposes to simulate over voltages that occur on power system due to lightning or switching action. For electrical engineers the main concern of high voltage generation is for the insulation design, testing before commissioning and in service testing of various components in power system for different types of voltages.

Research and simulation Lab

This Lab is basically developed for subjects which require software simulation like Signal Processing, Electrical drives, Power System, Control System,Computer Aided Electrical Drawing and Simulation. Lab is equipped with various high end computers loaded with various simulation softwares. UG/PG students can use this lab for their project/research work.

Power Electronics Drives and Control Lab

The primary objective of this laboratory is to provide the students with practical knowledge on power semiconductor switches and its use in different power electronics circuits. Here the students get acquainted with characteristics of power semiconductor switches like MOSFET, IGBT, SCR, DIODE, GTO etc. Student will study the behavior of different types of Converter (DC-DC), Inverter (AC-AC), AC voltage controller, Cycloconverter circuits by performing practical on it.

Power System Lab

The primary objective of this laboratory is to provide the students with practical knowledge on different types of protection systems practically employed in various industries to cope up with the failures. Here the students get acquainted with characteristics and behavior of different types of electro-mechanical relays & their characteristics. It also include various practical associated with numerical & thermal relays & their mode of operation. The students can practically visualize their performance as well as make all necessary arrangements by themselves.
