Allied Health and Sciences is a broad field that encompasses various healthcare professions that support the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients. These professionals work in tandem with doctors, nurses, and other medical staff to deliver high-quality care. Biotechnology Lab

Biotechnology labs are used for a variety of processes, including analysing cultures chemically and physically, protecting and stabilizing ingredients and microorganisms, carrying out in vitro studies, and validating products. Biotechnology lab is equipped with a variety of instruments and tools to support research, development, and commercialization. Some common pieces of equipment present in biotechnology labs include:
UV-Vis Double Beam Spectrophotometer, Refrigerated Centrifuge, Autoclave and Hot air oven, Circulating Water Bath, Laminar Air Flow Cabinet, Deep Freezer, Electrophoretic Units, pH Meter, Water Distillation Unit.

Anatomy Lab

An anatomy lab is used to learn about the human body, including its structure, function, and the interaction of its various parts. It deals with the study of cells, tissues and membranes that make up our bodies and how our major systems function to help us develop and stay healthy. The study of Anatomy includes the basic human body functions and life processes. Some common pieces of equipment present in anatomy labs include:
Microscope (Monocular), Dissection Microscope, Microtome – Semi automatic, Paraffin Embedding Bath, Refrigerator, Hot Water Bath, Yarco Automatic Knife Sharpner, Oven, Trinocular microscope with screen, Dimond pencil.

Eligibility

B. MLS / B. MRIT / B. AOTT
  • Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science, Bachelor of Medical Radiology & Imaging Technology, Bachelor of Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Technology Passed 10+2 (HSC) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics as subjects. Must have appeared in all subjects and obtained a non-zero score in NEET or any other CET conducted by the Competent Authority. Admission is subject to any other eligibility criteria and requirements declared from time to time by the Appropriate Authority as defined under the Act.
Bachelor of Optometry (B. Optom.)
  • Passed 10+2 (HSC) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics as subjects. Secured minimum 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination. Must have appeared in all subjects and obtained a non-zero score in NEET or any other CET conducted by the Competent Authority. Admission is subject to any other eligibility criteria and requirements declared from time to time by the Appropriate Authority as defined under the Act.
Master of Science (Clinical Embryology)
  • Candidates must have passed any one of the following qualifications from a recognized University / Institution: B.Sc. in Life Sciences / Biological Sciences, B.Sc. in Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Genetics / Zoology, Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS), MBBS, BHMS / BAMS, Any other equivalent qualification approved by the Appropriate Authority / University Additional Requirements, Admission shall be on the basis of an entrance examination conducted by the respective University / Competent Authority. Candidates must fulfill any other eligibility criteria prescribed from time to time by the Appropriate Authority. Wherever applicable, candidates may be required to comply with regulatory requirements of ART / NCAHP.
    Note: Eligibility is subject to norms prescribed by the University and relevant statutory / regulatory authorities.

Orientation program

The orientation program in the University is designed to welcome new students and help them acclimate to campus life. The event features a series of informative sessions, interactive workshops, and engaging activities aimed at introducing students to university resources, academic expectations, and social opportunities. Students will have the chance to meet faculty, connect with fellow classmates, and learn about various clubs and organizations. With campus tours and Q&A panels, the program fosters a sense of community and belonging, ensuring that every participant feels prepared and excited to embark on their academic journey.

Industrial visits are significant for paramedical students as they provide hands-on experience and real-world exposure to healthcare settings. These visits allow students to observe the practical applications of their theoretical knowledge, enhancing their understanding of medical equipment, patient care processes, and the functioning of healthcare facilities. Interacting with professionals in the field offers valuable insights into industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies. Additionally, these experiences can help students develop essential skills, such as teamwork and communication, while fostering a deeper appreciation for the roles they will play in patient care. Guest lectures organized by ASH&B department, Dr. D. Bhalerao Director of Research in Ruby Hall Clinic given his expert insights and real-world experiences from professionals in the field. These lectures enhance the learning experience by introducing students to current trends, advancements, and best practices in healthcare. By engaging with industry leaders, students can gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the paramedical sector. Additionally, such events facilitate networking opportunities, helping students build connections that may benefit their future careers. Overall, guest lectures enrich the academic curriculum and contribute to the professional development of paramedical students.
Steffanie Grimes a counsellor from M-Power, Aditya Birla Hospital, Pune had an interaction with ALARD School of Health and Biosciences students. Mental awareness programs are crucial for promoting mental health and well-being within communities and educational institutions. These programs educate participants about the importance of mental health, helping to reduce stigma and foster open discussions about mental health issues. Ultimately, such initiatives contribute to a healthier, more informed society that prioritizes mental well-being.
The Dean of ASH&B took initiatives to distribute the first aid kit among all the departments. Dr. Ajai Kumar Jain also told us the significance of a first-aid kit, providing immediate care during medical emergencies. Having a well-stocked first-aid kit ensures that individuals can promptly address minor injuries, such as cuts, burns, or sprains, and stabilize more serious conditions until professional medical help arrives. It promotes safety and preparedness in various settings, whether at home, school, or in the workplace.
A workshop titled “The scope and recent trends in paramedical Sciences & Biotechnology” was organised by ALARD School of Health & Biosciences, ALARD University, Pune on 03rd and 10th October-2024. There were 04 sessions in the workshop on areas of-Radiology & Imaging Technology, Operation Theatre Technology, Optometry, and Biotechnology. Dr. Abhijit, Mr. Sanjeev Singh & Mr. Pramod has informed about the various scope of paramedical field in various sectors eg. Hospital Industries, R&D and corporate companies, are also aware about the details of new trends and various scope in the field of paramedical as well as Biotechnology. The workshop was inaugurated by VC Madam Dr Poonam Kashyap and blessed by Chairman and Chancellor ALARD University-Dr L. R. Yadav. Dr. Ajai Kumar Jain, the dean of the school emphasized that these programs are not only precious but very much in demand in Industry. He emphasized that the students could make a bright career in these areas. The students were happy and gave positive feedback for the workshop, approx. 100 students got benefited by this workshop. The workshop was managed by the team of students and faculties. Dr. Savita Petwal, Mr. Ashish and Ms. Ritu were present during the workshop.
