Laboratory of 3D Printing Technology

3D Printers and 3D Printing technology (Additive Manufacturing) is a relatively new technology that uses computer controlled 3D Printer to create three dimensional physical objects constructed by layer-by-layer deposition/addition using digital CAD models resulting in reduction of waste material.

It is used for wide range of applications such as for creating rapid prototypes; manufacturing complex, low volume and custom functional parts directly for various products; production of personalized medical devices and parts such as custom fitted artificial limbs and braces, dental implants; in Mechanical Engineering for custom mechanical part design and manufacturing; in civil engineering for detailed physical models of buildings and architectural designs, even to construct entire building.

AUP has established a Laboratory for 3D Printing technology equipped with two 3D printers to train U. G., P. G., and Ph. D. students.
